North Mids Maths Hub offer a range of different professional development opportunities. These ‘projects’ – listed below – cover mathematical subject knowledge and pedagogy in all educational phases. Their design continues to acknowledge the need to address gaps in attainment - whatever the cause - as well as focusing on long-term sustainable improvements in maths.

Primary Mastery Specialist
Become a Mastery Specialist working in the primary phase
The Primary Mastery Specialist Programme is for primary teachers with a passion for maths. In the first year of the programme, three residentials – one in each term – provide an opportunity to develop understanding the Five Big Ideas of teaching for mastery in depth and to focus on the specialist subject knowledge required to design lessons that unfold the maths for all children.

Strengthening Partnerships with ITT ProvidersNCP24-31
Strengthening Partnerships with ITT Providers
A professional learning community for ITT providers and Maths Hub leadership.
This project aims to form an established group of ITT representatives across the sector who are committed to developing communities of practice in order to review and evolve their provision.
Any work undertaken will be in conjunction with the leaders of maths provision in ITT institutions, to strengthen the partnership and agree actions that will support the deepening of understanding of teaching for mastery for ITT trainees at an award level. Activity may include working across hub boundaries and collaborating in larger regions.

Research and Innovation Work GroupsNCP24-RIWG
Research and Innovation Work Groups
Maths Hubs' research and innovation work is intended to be rigorous and influential. These Work Groups will involve collaborative professional learning, developing influence, and growing expertise in leading maths pedagogy and curriculum, leading teacher development, and leading whole-school development of maths.
Work Groups will meet online and face-to-face.
