Research and Innovation Work Group
Problem Solving in the Teaching for Mastery Classroom
Led by Gemma Middleton
To allow like-minded leaders of mathematics to work collaboratively to develop problem solving within their schools.
Do pupils in your school solve problems successfully?
Do you have a consistent approach to problem-solving across school?
Do staff in your school have a secure understanding of problem solving and the associated barriers for pupils?
What's involved?
This Research and Innovation Work Group will explore what the every day practices in mathematics are that support the development of problem solving skills, attitudes and mindsets in teaching for mastery classrooms.
What will you learn?
This Work Group aims to support you, as leaders of mathematics, to develop problem solving within your own schools, as well as developing your own understanding of problem solving.
You will also evaluate current approaches to problem solving and the barriers and benefits these can have for pupils.
Eligibility
Any school currently participating in a Sustaining Work Group is eligible to join.
