Core Maths Work Group Taster Day
Friday 21st June 2024
Join a Developing Core Maths Pedagogy Work Group for their final session of the year, as they review this year and plan for the next academic year.
This work group is run by North Mids and Cheshire and Wirral Maths Hubs. Teachers from outside these Maths Hubs are welcome to attend.
Content
After a brief overview of the ethos of the two Core Maths Work Groups that run nationwide ('New to Core Maths' and 'Developing Core Maths Pedagogy') we will continue with a typical Work Group session. This might include:
- A review of this year's Core Maths exams.
- A review of the work of the participants.
- A pedagogical discussion focus on new ideas or resources.
- Sharing of experiences and resources.
Aims of the Day
You will get an insight into the ethos and activities of a Core Maths Work Group, review this year's exams, and share ideas and resources with experienced teachers of Core Maths.
Who will benefit from attending?
Primarily, the event is for teachers who have been teaching Core Maths for more than 2 years and are interested in getting first-hand experience of a Work Group. As the session is being run as a taster event, we will discuss how the New to Core Maths Work Groups operate and have stand-alone activities that can be used in the Core Maths classroom, so you may still wish to attend as a teacher new to teaching Core Maths or about to start.
