Teachers in Reception to deepen their understanding of early mathematics

The "Giving every child the best start in life" (2025) report makes a powerful care that early education is key to reducing disadvantage, as many children start school without basic skills.  The government's mission - to ensure that at least 75% of children achieve a 'good level of development' by the end of Reception by 2028, with early mathematics as a priority.  To achieve this, focus on improving teaching quality, investing in staff training, and using Maths Hubs to strengthen teachers’ understanding of early mathematics.
